News: Man fatally hit by boat while wakeboarding at Hunts Point

KING COUNTY, WA — A 42-year-old man was fatally injured late Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by a boat while wakeboarding at Hunts Point, according to KIRO 7 Seattle.

The fatal accident happened about 100 yards off the shore of 4300 Hunts Point Road, northwest of Bellevue. Mercer Island police and fire crews responded to the scene at around 4:35 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates the man was wakeboarding from a 22-foot ski boat operated by a 24-year-old man. At one point, for reasons still unknown, the boat collided with the wakeboarder.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was later pronounced deceased, confirmed officials.

An investigation remains underway, but police said impairment is not a suspected factor.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office is scheduled to conduct an autopsy.
