News: Man dies after series of crashes on I-5 near Lake Samish in Bellingham

WHATCOM COUNTY, WA — A man died early Tuesday after being involved in three different collisions on Interstate 5 near Lake Samish in south Bellingham, according to KOMO News.

Washington State Patrol said the events unfolded on the northbound lanes starting at around 6:30 a.m.

An early investigation shows the victim was involved in a rollover crash and had gotten out of his vehicle when he was struck by another vehicle.

First responders arrived to transport the victim to a hospital, but shortly after, the ambulance was also hit by another vehicle.

Authorities confirmed no crew members were hurt in the crash but that another ambulance had to be arranged to transport the victim, who was later pronounced deceased at a hospital.
