PIERCE COUNTY, WA – Washington State Patrol arrested a 28-year-old male suspect following a pursuit-turned-crash that involved a semi-truck on Friday, KOMO News said.
Washington State Patrol said the 28-year-old man, from Burien, had stolen an Infiniti G37 and driven at a high rate of 130 mph. Troopers tried to stop the stolen car by using spikes. The attempts were futile as the suspect managed to bypass all of those obstacles.
After 2:40 a.m., the Burien man crashed into a semi-truck on Interstate 5 near Steilacoom-DuPont Road.
The Burien man and truck driver sustained minor injuries, and the stolen car was significantly damaged.
Law enforcement arrested the Burien man and booked him into Pierce County Jail once he was released from the hospital.
The suspect may face DUI, felony eluding, and possession of a stolen vehicle charges.
Pierce County deputies, Lakewood, and DuPont police assisted WSP with efforts to stop the suspect.
Authorities shut down three lanes for over three hours to accommodate the scene clean-up process.
