News: Man, 63, killed in collision involving truck in Everett 

EVERETT, WA – A 63-year-old man lost his life as a result of a collision involving a commercial truck that happened on I-5 South near Everett Mall on Wednesday.

The crash took place around 2:15 a.m. According to KOMO News, the 63-year-old man was on the interstate’s third lane when he was struck by the truck.

The man, an Everett local, died from his injuries at the scene. Washington State Patrol said the man was initially riding a Vespa scooter. For reasons unclear, the Vesa was parked on the left shoulder, while at the same time, the man was occupying the third lane.

The truck did not hit the Vespa.

Troopers have not been able to determine why the Everett man was on the freeway.

Authorities shut down the HOV and two left lanes for several hours to accommodate the investigation process. During this time, traffic delays could be seen on U.S. 2.

Officials reopened the area before 7:30 a.m.
