News: Man, 56, killed in pursuit-turned-crash in Kent 

KENT, WA – A 56-year-old man died following a pursuit-turned-crash in Kent on Saturday, Komo News reports.

The incident unfolded before 9:30 p.m. in the downtown area. A Kent Police officer tried to pull over the 56-year-old man. He refused to stop and kept driving on Washington Avenue, initiating a pursuit.

The 56-year-old man lost control of his car and crashed into a utility pole off West Valley Highway and South 228th Street.

The driver was pinned inside his vehicle, requiring extrication. Police did what they could to try to free the man by prying open doors and using an automated external defibrillator.

Police conducted CPR on him prior to the arrival of King County medics.

EMS crews said the man, unfortunately, did not survive.

Police suspect the driver may have been impaired.
