News: Male pedestrian fatally hit by driver near South Hill Mall in Puyallup

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A 59-year-old man died early Sunday morning after being hit by a suspected DUI driver near South Hill Mall in Puyallup, according to KOMO News.

According to authorities, the fatal incident occurred in the 3400 block of South Meridian shortly before 3:00 a.m.

A preliminary investigation shows a 24-year-old woman was driving a silver passenger car north on the road when the vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck the pedestrian.

Police said the woman was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. She was then booked into Pierce County Jail on investigation of vehicular homicide.

The case is being handled by the METRO Cities Major Collision Response Team.
