WALLULA, WA – Local authorities apprehended a suspect and rescued a one-year-old child after a high speed chase on Saturday evening.
According to KOMO News, a Walla Walla County Deputy initially pursued the car after the driver ran a stop sign. Washington State troopers joined the chase as the suspect fled on westbound Highway 12, reaching speeds of over 100 mph.
The chase finally ended near Boise Cascade Road.
Authorities determined that Alicia Enriquezmyer, 21, was the driver. She has two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Another suspect, identified as a 17-year-old male, was also in the vehicle. He has two outstanding felony warrants.
A standoff began when Enriquezmyer called 911 and said she had a one-year-old child in her lap. After 40 minutes, two people exited the car, followed by Enriquezmyer, who held the baby. No injuries were reported.
Traffic was blocked on both directions of Highway 12 until the standoff ended and the area was cleared.
