News: Juvenile dies after multi-injury crash on SR-510 in Thurston County

THURSTON COUNTY, WA — A juvenile passenger died Thursday morning after a two-vehicle wreck that injured multiple people on State Route 510 near Olympia, reports FOX 13 Seattle.

The fatal crash occurred in the westbound highway at Peter Kalama Drive Southeast (Church Kalama Drive Southeast) at around 7:00 a.m. Washington State Patrol troopers responded to the scene shortly after.

Few details have been released, but the WSP said a passenger car struck an SUV. Troopers indicated the driver of the car was at fault.

A young passenger who was in the causing car died from their injuries at the scene.

Multiple other people were rushed to a local hospital. Authorities said occupants in the causing vehicle suffered serious injuries and those inside the SUV sustained minor injuries.

A section of the roadway was shut down during the emergency response. Motorists were asked to use I-5 as an alternate route.

An investigation into the cause of the wreck was underway. No pending charges have been reported at this time.
