News: I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass shut down after multiple spin-out crashes

SNOQUALMIE PASS, WA – Officials with the Washington State Department of Transportation said Interstate 90 was shut down on Sunday afternoon following several spin-out crashes.

According to the Tri-City Herald, the roadway was closed five miles west of the Denny Creek summit near Snoqualmie Pass around 1 p.m.

The snowy and icy highway conditions caused multiple accidents, leading to traffic delays in the area.

The westbound lanes of I-90 reopened in less than one hour. The eastbound lanes were closed for roughly an hour.

Authorities said they would require all vehicles except all-wheel drives traveling the pass in the afternoon and overnight to be equipped with tire chains.
