News: Hit-and-run driver injures 2 on I-5 in Fife

FIFE, WA – A hit-and-run driver struck and injured two pedestrians as they stood next to their disabled vehicle on the I-5 shoulder early Saturday morning, the Washington State Patrol reports.

A gray 2010 Lexus sedan was traveling south on I-5 when it struck a guardrail near 54th Avenue E. at about 4:02 a.m. on Saturday, May 8. The Lexus came to a stop in the right-hand lane, at which point its two occupants got out of the car and walked onto the shoulder. As they were standing there, a second southbound vehicle swerved to avoid the disabled Lexus, entered the shoulder, and hit them. It then proceeded on without stopping.

The two men were seriously injured. Their current conditions are not mentioned in the reprot.

Authorities are searching for the motorist responsible for the collision. They believe the vehicle is a dark-colored sedan, likely with damage to the front bumper and/or right front fender. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Washington State Patrol immediately.
