SEATTLE, WA — One person has been taken into custody following a hit-and-run crash early Thursday in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood, reports KOMO News.
According to the authorities, the incident occurred on a span of Aurora Avenue North (State Route 99) between Roy and Aloha streets. It was first reported by the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) at about 2:50 a.m.
Photo and video evidence collected from the scene indicates a driver in a black SUV crashed into a concrete jersey barrier before fleeing on foot. Area witnesses recalled hearing an engine revving at high volume before the wreck.
The collision forced responding crews to shut down a stretch of the road so the jersey barrier could be repaired.
Seattle Police said they have since arrested one person believed to have been the driver of the striking vehicle. It remains unclear at this time whether the suspect was impaired at the time of the crash.
No injuries have been reported following the incident.
An investigation remains ongoing.
