PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A 12-year-old girl died Saturday afternoon after a pedestrian crash that critically injured another in Midland, according to King 5.
The fatal incident occurred on 104th Street East near the 24th Avenue East intersection. It was first reported by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department at around 12:30 p.m.
Authorities said two 12-year-old girls were walking along the shoulder of the street when they were hit by a flatbed truck whose driver fled the scene.
One girl died from her injuries at the scene, and the other was rushed to an area hospital with critical injuries.
The PCSD were able to recover the vehicle Saturday evening, allowing deputies to begin working on identifying the suspect.
