News: Front-passenger killed in pursuit-turned-collision in Tacoma 

TACOMA, WA – A front-seat passenger lost their life following a pursuit-turned-collision on State Route 509 South near Port of Tacoma Road on Sunday. 

Washington State Patrol told KOMO News that a WSP trooper in Tacoma attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the freeway. The suspect refused to listen and immediately fled the scene in their vehicle, prompting a pursuit. 

The suspect was allegedly driving at a rate of 110mph and lost control of their vehicle, which led them to crash into a utility pole off the intersection of 21st Street and Pacific Avenue. 

The suspect and their back-seat passenger were hospitalized for serious injuries, while their front-seat passenger died from their injuries at the scene. 

The suspect is in custody and faces charges for vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, possession of a stolen vehicle, and DUI.
