News: Former Pierce Co. deputy sentenced to 3 months in jail after 2025 DUI crash 

SEATTLE, WA – A Former Pierce County deputy will serve three months in jail and a year of community service in connection with a DUI crash that happened in July 2025. 

The deputy, identified as Chad Dickerson, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, April 14, to driving under the influence and causing a collision that injured a 57-year-old woman and her three children, King5 reports. He will also face two years of probation and “ $500 fine with pending restitution, which prosecutors will determine at a later time”, according to Fox13Seattle. 

In October 2025, Dickerson was charged with felony vehicular assault with a DUI enhancement and a misdemeanor of obstructing a law enforcement officer.

The Back Story: The collision happened before 4 p.m. on July 12, 2025, at the intersection of 132nd Avenue and 288th Street. Dickerson was driving and failed to yield to a vehicle driven by the 57-year-old woman and crashed into it. 

The woman’s vehicle landed in a ditch, and she, along with Dickerson, sustained several broken bones. 

The woman was transported to a hospital via ambulance, and Dickerson by private conveyance. 

Dickerson admitted he had two vodka sodas while golfing and before driving his vehicle. He refused to take a field sobriety test, so officials put out a warrant for an official blood test. 

Dickerson’s BAC level was over the legal limit at 0.091%. 

Dickerson called his bureau chief, who then texted the command duty officer. Several Pierce County deputies pulled up to the scene, who reportedly did not have their body cameras on at the time of the crash. 

It’s unclear if Dickerson, who was a Pierce County deputy for 24 years, was on duty at the time of the collision.
