News: Forklift crash causes fire, power outages in Queen Anne 

SEATTLE, WA – A fire and several power outages were reported as a result of a forklift crash that happened in the Queen Anne area on Wednesday. 

Seattle fire crews told Fox13Seattle that the incident unfolded after 9 a.m. A man was operating a worklift when he crashed into some power lines on Queen Anne Avenue North. 

The force of the collision caused fuel in the vehicle to catch on fire. Fire crews had to evacuate people inside the surrounding apartment buildings in order to extinguish the flames.

The man was uninjured, and Puget Sound Energy crews had to shut off power before the man could be rescued. The man had to wait a few hours until the power was off. 

Once the power was off, the man climbed down a ladder. 

By 1:40 p.m., it was estimated that over 500 homes and places of business were without power.
