News: Elderly woman hit, critically injured by DUI suspect in downtown Seattle

SEATTLE, WA — An 81-year-old woman was hospitalized with severe head trauma Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Seattle, reports KOMO News.

The incident took place on Marion Street, in the city’s First Hill neighborhood. Seattle Police responded to the scene at around 2:00 p.m.

According to an early investigation, a 38-year-old female driver made a turn onto Marion Street, where her vehicle hit the victim, who was in a marked crosswalk.

The elderly pedestrian received medical aid from respond Seattle Fire crew members before she was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition.

The female driver was taken into custody after a Drug Recognition official determined she showed signs of drug impairment. She has since been booked into King County Jail for an investigation into vehicular assault.
