News: Elderly woman fatally hit by vehicle in Capitol Hill crosswalk

SEATTLE, WA — An 80-year-old woman has died following a hit-and-run pedestrian crash in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, according to KOMO News.

The fatal incident occurred at the corner of East Madison Street and 22nd Avenue. Seattle Police responded to the scene after receiving multiple calls at about 4:45 p.m.

Details are limited, but authorities said the woman was using a crosswalk to walk across the intersection when she was struck by a black van that was turning onto westbound East Madison Street from northbound 22nd Avenue. Witnesses said the driver continued down the road without stopping.

Seattle Fire Department medics rushed the woman to Harborview Medical Center. On Monday, the SPD confirmed the victim had died from her injuries.

At this time, the department’s Traffic Collision Investigation Squad continues to investigate and search for the hit-and-run driver.
