News: Elderly driver falls asleep, hits 2 juveniles in Kirkland

KIRKLAND, WA – According to KIRO 7, an elderly driver fell asleep at the wheel and collided with two juveniles at 84th Ave NE and NE 137th St on Monday.

An 81-year-old was heading south on 84th Ave NE when they fell asleep, strayed off the road, and hit two juveniles on the sidewalk around 3 p.m.

First responders treated the two victims at the scene before transporting them to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the collision, the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

Crews shut down the area for around three hours to process the scene.
