SEATTLE, WA – E. Coli has hospitalized six out of seven children infected with the disease in King County and investigators are working to find a possible common source, reports Q13.
The investigation has yet to yield any results at this time. E. Coli infection could have come from a number of source ranging from under-cooked beef, to cheese, and water contaminated with feces.
The children, all of which are under 14 years old, started showing symptoms of the disease between April 17 and April 29. One child developed a kidney complication called hemolytic uremic syndrome while in the hospital.
King County public health officials announced they working with the Washington State Department of Health and are interviewing the parents or guardians of the children to help identify what caused the infection.
