KING COUNTY, WA — One person was hospitalized Tuesday evening after a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 90 near Snoqualmie, according to Washington State Patrol.
The incident occurred on the eastbound lanes, in an area between Preston and Snoqualmie, at around 7:40 p.m.
Authorities said a 29-year-old man was in two-vehicle collision west of Preston shortly before fleeing scene only to get into another multi-vehicle crash.
A preliminary investigation indicates the man collided with a semi-truck driven by a 44-year-old man in lane 2. When the first driver attempted to get away, his car became stuck between the truck and the guardrail, blocking the far left lane. Moments later, a third vehicle collided with the back of the semi-truck.
WSP said the third driver, a 36-year-old man, suffered undisclosed injuries and was transported to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center. He was suspected of impairment and later charged with DUI and assault.
No other injuries were reported, but the first driver was also charged with DUI and vehicular assault.
