News: DUI suspect ejected, injured in crash on I-90 near Ellensburg

KITTITAS COUNTY, WA — A 35-year-old Bremerton man was hospitalized early Wednesday after a single-vehicle collision on Interstate 90 near Ellensburg, reports iFIBER ONE.

The Washington State Patrol said the wreck occurred on the eastbound lanes near Stevens Road.

A preliminary investigation shows the man was behind the wheel of a 2006 Ford Econoline van heading eastbound when he veered to the left of the roadway. The van continued on the center median for nearly 50 feet before traveling down an embankment. Shortly after, the van was sent onto Stevens Road, where it rotated, continued up the embankment east of Stevens Road for about 15 feet before coming to a rest.

Authorities said the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time, was ejected in the crash. He was rushed to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

As of this writing, the driver faces charges of “DUI, no ignition interlock device and driving with a suspended license.”
