News: DUI suspect arrested after fatal crash on S Meridian in Puyallup

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A 32-year-old Tacoma man was taken into custody early Sunday after a crash that claimed the life of another man in Puyallup, according to KOMO News.

Puyallup Police responded to the scene in the 2200 block of South Meridian at about 2:07 a.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates the Tacoma man was driving southbound when his vehicle collided with another car, which was parked in the middle of the road.

Following the wreck, the striking driver, who alerted authorities about a man lying unresponsive on the ground near the vehicle, initiated CPR. However, the driver of the struck car died from his injuries at the scene.

A 32-year-old female passenger in the parked car suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

It was not immediately clear why the victim car was parked in the roadway, but an investigation was underway.
