News: Driver seriously injured in hit-and-run collision on I-5 south in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, WA – Troopers responded to a hit-and-run collision on I-5 south in Lakewood that left one driver with serious injuries on Monday night.

Ryan Burke, a public information officer with the Washington State Patrol, tweeted about the incident at 6:37 p.m.

South I-5, north of Bridgeport in Lakewood. Troopers are on scene of a serious injury, hit and run collision. The driver of this Honda is lucky to be alive. Believe a broken leg is the worst of the injuries. If anyone was witness to this, please contact me.

According to Burke, the crash occurred in the southbound lanes of I-5 just north of Bridgeport Way Southwest. The driver of a Honda involved in the hit-and-run is fortunate to have survived with a broken leg.

Although there was no official description of the vehicle that fled, it is believed a silver pickup truck may have been involved.

The WSP urges any witnesses with information regarding the crash to report what they know.
