News: Driver sent to hospital after tree falls on car in south Tacoma

TACOMA, WA — One person had to be extricated from their vehicle Tuesday afternoon in south Tacoma after a tree fell and left them trapped, according to KOMO News.

The incident took place in the 4700 block of South 48th Street, prompting a response from Tacoma Fire crews shortly after 12:50 p.m.

Details are limited, but photos captured at the scene and shared by the department show at least two vehicles trapped under a fallen tree.

Rescue crews worked to stabilize the tree in order to safely remove one trapped occupant, who was then transported to a local hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries.

No other injuries were immediately reported.

Authorities have not confirmed what caused the tree to fall.
