News: Driver rescued by WSDOT worker after crash off SR-410 in Yakima County

YAKIMA COUNTY, WA — A driver was rescued after an injury crash left her stranded Thursday night on State Route 410 near northwest Naches, according to FOX 13 Seattle.

Authorities said the accident occurred near Whistlin’ Jack Lodge after a sleepy female driver missed her turn onto US Highway 12 toward Randle and continued on SR-410.

Preliminary details indicate the woman, who missed multiple signs warning of a road closure 40 miles ahead, eventually crashed her vehicle off the highway.

Early the next morning, a Washington State Department of Transportation who was patrolling the area spotted her vehicle, which had downed several trees and was left buried in the nearby forest. Authorities noted the area was known for poor cell phone service.

The female driver was found in a wet and cold condition but only sustained minor injuries. The WSDOT assisted the victim and promptly called for first responders.

No other injuries were reported.
