News: Driver killed in rollover crash on SR-167 near north Auburn

KING COUNTY, WA — A 35-year-old man died early Sunday after a single-vehicle rollover wreck on State Route 167 near north Auburn, reports KIRO 7 Seattle.

Washington State Patrol troopers responded to the scene on the northbound lanes of the highway, just north of 37th Street. The fatal wreck was first reported shortly before 3:30 a.m.

The WSP said troopers and firefighters were initially called to the site for a reported brush fire, but discovered the incident was a vehicle accident.

Officials said the man appeared to have been driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control, causing his vehicle to roll multiple times before landing in a ditch.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck, was ejected from the car. He died as a result of his injuries, confirms the WSP.

No other occupants or vehicles were involved.

An investigation by the WSP was in progress.
