News: Driver injured in crash with tree near Seattle’s Rainier Beach

SEATTLE, WA — A man in his 20s was hospitalized Monday morning after his car collided with a tree in Seattle’s Rainier Beach neighborhood, according to KIRO 7 Seattle.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Rainer Avenue South and Cloverdale Place, at about 4:15 a.m.

It was unclear what led up to the collision, but responding fire crews had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver from the wreckage.

After 20 minutes, the patient was removed and rushed to Harborview Medical Center. The extent of his injuries has not been disclosed, but officials said he was listed in stable condition.

No other occupants were involved and no other injuries were reported.

A section of the road along Rainer Beach High School was shut down in both directions during the response, but reopened after an hour.

An investigation into the cause of the wreck was in progress.
