SEATTLE, WA — A 35-year-old man was hospitalized Wednesday morning after crashing his car into a building while suffering an apparent crisis in Seattle’s Georgetown area, reports KOMO News.
Seattle Fire Department crews responded to the scene in the 700 block of South Michigan Street shortly before 7:07 a.m.
Details remain limited at this time, but witnesses saw the man drive past other motorists and around the block twice before he struck a commercial building.
Moments after the crash, the driver left the scene but was later located a short distance away.
The crash caused a two-alarm fire to break out in the structure, but crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames.
Crews transported the driver to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition. The extent of his injuries was not disclosed, but officials said he is expected to survive.
Firefighters confirmed the building was vacant at the time of the crash, and no other injuries were reported.
Damage to the building was being evaluated.
No further updates have been provided at this time.
