Trooper Rick Johnson, the Public Information Officer for the Washington State Patrol’s 2nd District, described the incident in a series of posts on X. He says that the chase began when an aerial unit spotted what appears to be a white Ford Mustang traveling at roughly 110 miles per hour on I-5 near Fife. The vehicle proceeded into King County, where a trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over. Instead, the driver sped away without stopping. The trooper did not give pursuit, as the aerial unit still had a visual on the suspect.
From Auburn, the fleeing driver proceeded into Kent, where he attempted multiple times to park the vehicle surreptitiously. However, each time, police would approach the vehicle, and the driver sped away again.
The pursuit finally ended when the driver, his headlights turned off, proceeded through a T-intersection and crashed into a set of train tracks. He ran off on foot, but was apprehended in a nearby backyard with the help of the Kent Police Department.
Officers booked the suspect into the King County Jail. This was his second arrest for attempting to evade law enforcement.
Fortunately, it appears no one was injured in the chase.
