News: Driver hospitalized after crash with jackknifed semi on Snoqualmie Pass

KITTITAS COUNTY, WA — A 34-year-old Ellensburg man was injured Friday morning in a crash involving a jackknifed semi-truck on Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass, reports iFiBERONE.

The Washington State Patrol reported the wreck near milepost 53 shortly before 5:40 a.m.

According to authorities, a 59-year-old Marysville man was behind the wheel of a semi-truck heading westbound on I-90 when he lost control of the vehicle. The semi then jackknifed and came to a rest in the roadway, blocking three out of the interstate’s four lanes.

Moments later, the semi was hit by a 2014 Ford Focus driven by the victim. He was transported to Overlake Hospital with minor injuries.

The WSP said the semi driver was not reported injured, and was later determined to have been driving too fast for conditions. It was unclear whether any charges or citations are expected to be filed.

The westbound interstate was shut down for over three hours during the response and investigation.
