News: Driver dies after dump truck overturns on SR-167 in Kent

KING COUNTY, WA — A rollover crash involving a dump truck Wednesday afternoon in Kent claimed the life of its driver, according to KOMO News.

The fatal accident occurred on the northbound side of State Route 167 at the ramp to SR-516. It was first reported by Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson at 2:10 p.m.

A preliminary investigation by the WSP indicates the truck was heading northbound on the highway when it experienced a flat tire. Shortly after, the truck entered the gore point of the SR-516 entrance ramp and overturned, landing on its driver’s side.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed officials.

Authorities had the ramp shut down during the emergency response and investigation, but by 6:24 p.m., the Washington State Department of Transportation reported the ramp and all main lanes had been reopened.

It remains unclear what caused the rollover, as no further details have been provided.
