News: Driver dies after car slams into light pole in SW Tacoma

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — One person died Saturday afternoon after a single-vehicle crash at a southwest Tacoma intersection, according to FOX 13 Seattle.

The fatal accident happened at the corner of South 56th Street and South Washington Street, in the city’s South Tacoma neighborhood. Tacoma Police Police responded to the scene at about 2:00 p.m.

It was unclear what caused the wreck, but officers and firefighters arrived to find the driver deceased in a car that had collided with a light pole.

The intersection was shut down during the emergency response and initial investigation. Motorists were asked to find alternate routes around the scene.

The case was being handled by the TPD’s Collision Investigation Team.
