TACOMA, WA – Washington State Patrol cited a female driver for texting while driving after causing a head-on crash that injured one of their troopers on Wednesday.
The collision happened before 9 a.m. on the 11400th block of Steele Street South, according to Kiro7. Preliminary details show that the female driver, who was operating a pickup truck, was texting and driving. Her distracted driving is what caused her to drift out of her lane, go into the opposite lane of traffic, and crash head-on into the WSP patrol car.
A trooper who was driving that patrol car became entrapped and was extricated by firefighters.
The trooper was left with minor injuries and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Law enforcement cited the woman for texting while driving/negligent driving. She appeared to be uninjured.
