News: Driver arrested, charged after series of hit-and-runs in Lakewood

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A driver has been taken into custody following five hit-and-run crashes last Saturday, December 16, in northeast Lakewood, according to KOMO News.

The incidents took place in the area of 84th Street Southwest and 38th Street Southwest, at about 1:50 p.m. Washington State Patrol’s Tacoma troopers responded to the scene off Interstate 5 at about 1:50 p.m.

Preliminary details indicate a driver in a white Jeep was intentionally ramming their vehicle into other cars in order to move through traffic. Other area agencies, including Lakewood Police Department and Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, joined the WSP in the search for the erratic driver, who was located shortly after a description of the vehicle was released.

The driver, who was arrested without incident, was released into WSP custody. They currently face five hit-and-run charges as well as five first-degree assault charges. Impairment is not believed to have been a factor in the string of crashes.
