News: Dog killed as teen driver crashes vehicle into Lacey residence

THURSTON COUNTY, WA — An 18-year-old Granite Falls man crashed his car into a Lacey home Sunday evening, fatally injuring the homeowner’s dog, according to KIRO 7 Seattle.

The incident occurred in the 4600 block of 66th Avenue Southeast. Lacey Police Department officers responded to the scene at around 7:53 p.m.

Preliminary details indicate the teen was driving southbound on Rainier Road, when, for reasons still unclear, he veered off the roadway. His vehicle proceeded along Capitol City Golf Club for multiple blocks until it plowed through a fence and into a house.

Officials said a pug that was inside the home was hit and killed. No one else in the house was reported hurt, but first responders transported the teen driver to an area hospital with minor injuries.

An investigation remains underway, but police have ruled out drugs and alcohol as contributing factors. No arrests are expected following the event.
