News: Cyclist hit, seriously hurt by car on NE 85th St in Kirkland

KING COUNTY, WA — A man suffered serious injuries early Friday when he was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in Kirkland, according to KOMO News.

Kirkland Police said the incident unfolded on the eastbound lanes of Northeast 85th Street, just east of Interstate 405. Officers responded to the area shortly after 12:00 a.m.

While details remain limited, investigators said the cyclist appeared to have been following road rules when he was hit by the car.

Though the victim was seriously hurt, he was still able to communicate with responding officers at the scene. First responders rushed the patient to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center.

The driver, who pulled over a little farther up the road from the crash site, cooperated with investigators. At this time, impairment is not believed to have been a factor in the event.

All eastbound lanes in the area were blocked off as crews worked the area.

No charges have been reported as of this writing.
