News: Crews search for woman, child after crash into Snoqualmie River near Fall City

KING COUNTY, WA — A woman and an 8-year-old boy remained missing Monday afternoon, a day after a DUI suspect crashed a car into the Snoqualmie River near Fall City, reports Snoqualmie Valley Record.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Southeast Fall City-Snoqualmie Road and Southeast Fish Hatchery Road on Sunday, January 9, shortly before 2:00 a.m.

Authorities said a 35-year-old male driver tried to turn left at the corner and lost control of his vehicle, causing it to enter the river. Besides the driver, the car was transporting three other occupants, including the woman, the boy, and an 8-month-old girl.

Washington State Patrol said the male driver and the 8-month-old girl have since been rescued without injury, but crews have been unable to locate the woman and boy even after the King County Sheriff’s Office found the car Monday afternoon.

Eastside Fire & Rescue crews were on boats performing an all-day search Sunday and had resume their efforts as of 10:00 a.m. Monday with help from WSP, Fall City Fire, and the King County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said the driver will likely be facing a charge for driving under the influence, among multiple others.
