News: Crews respond to crash, multiple fires on I-90 WB near Preston

KING COUNTY, WA — A vehicle wreck and a series of fires Wednesday afternoon closed a section of Interstate 90 northwest of Preston, according to KOMO News.

The events unfolded on the westbound side of I-90 at milepost 21, west of Preston/Fall City Road Southeast. It was first reported by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) at 2:08 p.m.

Authorities have not disclosed a possible cause of the crash or how it may have led to multiple brush fires in the area, but all westbound lanes of the highway were shut down.

Eastside Fire and Rescue crews and the Washington State Patrol were on the scene where a traffic backup had formed, stretching beyond State Route 18 at milepost 25.

At 3:53 p.m., Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson tweeted that all lanes had been reopened to traffic.

Local agencies have not confirmed any serious injuries at this time.
