News: Crews called to collision on I-5 SB in Northgate area

SEATTLE, WA — Multiple emergency crews responded to a crash late Thursday morning on Interstate 5 in north Seattle’s Northgate neighborhood, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The accident impacted the southbound lanes at Exit 173 to Northeast Northgate Way. Dispatchers first got the call shortly before 11:45 a.m.

Authorities have not provided details regarding the circumstances of the crash, but medics, fire crews, the Washington State Patrol, and WSDOT’s Incident Response Team were all called to the scene.

Footage taken at the scene shows at least two fire trucks blocking the scene off in the far left lane.

By 12:30 p.m., 45 minutes after the initial WSDOT report, the scene was announced cleared and all lanes were reopened to traffic.

It was not immediately clear whether anyone was hurt in the event.
