News: Collision blocks lanes on SR-539 northbound in Bellingham

WHATCOM COUNTY, WA — A vehicle accident Thursday morning blocked off three northbound lanes on state Route 539 in north Bellingham, according to Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

The incident occurred where SR 539 crosses Axton Road in north Bellingham’s Laurel neighborhood shortly before 9:00 a.m.

The crash caused up to three lanes to be alternately closed and reopened at various points as emergency crews responded to the scene.

It is unclear from the traffic image shared by WSDOT how many vehicles were involved in the incident.

Shortly before 10:00 a.m., the crash was reported cleared.
