News: Bus carrying 17 catches fire on I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass

KITTITAS COUNTY, WA — Seventeen passengers were forced to disembark a bus Tuesday afternoon near Snoqualmie Pass after the vehicle caught fire, according to King 5.

The incident unfolded on westbound Interstate 90 at milepost 47, about six miles west of the pass.

While it’s unclear at this time whether a crash or mechanical problems caused the blaze, the Washington State Patrol said seventeen people aboard the bus were able to exit safely with their luggage.

The two right lanes were initially blocked, leaving only the left lane open to traffic as crews tended to the scene. Shortly after 3:00 p.m., the fire had been extinguished and no injuries were immediately reported.

An investigation into the cause of the fire remains underway.
