News: Authorities charge trooper with vehicular homicide in Richland

RICHLAND, WA –  According to KOMO, a Washington State Patrol trooper has been charged with vehicular homicide for allegedly causing a deadly wreck while drunk near Washington 240 and Village Parkway on March 1.

Trooper Sarah Clasen was driving an SUV when she made a left turn from Washington 240 onto Village Parkway and collided with a motorcycle operated by Jhoser Sanchez.

First responders transported Sanchez to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities determined Clasen’s blood alcohol level was .17, which is over twice the legal limit.

Investigators found that Clasen was at a bar with her husband prior to the collision.

The Benton County Prosecutor’s office handed the case to Spokane County due to a conflict of interest.
