News: Authorities arrest RV driver for fatal hit-and-run in Skyway

SKYWAY, WA – According to KOMO, authorities arrested a man for a deadly hit-and-run involving a white 19999 Royal Classic RV that occurred on the 11800 block of 68th Avenue South on July 24. 

Daniel R. Hayes, 74,  was allegedly driving an RV when he struck multiple cars and trucks. One of the vehicles that was hit collided with Susana Garcia-Perez and pinned her underneath it. 

First responders extricated Garcia-Perez from under the vehicle before pronouncing her dead at the scene. 

State troopers located Hayes the next day. He was still driving the RV. He initially claimed the damage to the RV was caused by someone hitting it while it was parked. He later admitted that he had been drinking before the incident and told officers he did not remember what he had done. 

Authorities charged Hayes with vehicular homicide, hit-and-run death, and reckless driving.
