News: At least 1 left seriously hurt after U-Haul truck crash in downtown Tacoma

TACOMA, WA — Authorities responded to a serious injury crash Monday morning on Tacoma Avenue South in downtown Tacoma, according to KOMO News.

Tacoma Police reported a closure of the road between South 13th Street and South 15th Street, shortly before 7:00 a.m.

The circumstances of the accident were not immediately clear, but photos captured at the scene indicate drivers in a Scion and a U-Haul rental truck were involved. Part of the building that houses the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, as well as a local nonprofit, appeared to have sustained damage in the wreck.

At this time, authorities have not confirmed the number of people hurt or elaborated on the severity of the injuries.

The Tacoma Police Department’s Collision Investigation Team was called to the scene for an investigation.

By 9:20 a.m., the scene was reported cleared and the roadway was reopened to the public.
