EVERETT, WA – An 18-year-old man was arrested this week in connection with a deadly pedestrian crash that claimed the lives of three people in November 2024.
King5 said the collision took place outside of a 7-Eleven on the 11700th block of Airport Road after 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 9. The 18-year-old male suspect, Giovanny Aparicio-Media, was underage at the time of the crash.
Preliminary details show that Aparicio-Media was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed and fleeing from Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies when he ran a red light, lost control of his vehicle, and crashed into several pedestrians.
Aparicio-Media, who had several passengers with him, exited the vehicle and fled the scene of the deadly pedestrian crash. Some of the occupants were immediately detained after a search.
The people who were struck by Aparicio-Media’s car were two women in their 20s, a man in his 30s, and two people identified as Heather Sullivan and Jonathan Anderson.
Sullivan, Anderson, and the man in his 30s all died from their injuries. The women in their 20s suffered critical injuries.
Everett Police and the Snohomish County Violent Offenders Task Force determined that Aparicio-Media fled to California after the deadly crash.
U.S. Marshals located Aparicio-Media in Los Angeles, California, and arrested him. Arrangements are being made to bring him back to Snohomish County.
Aparicio-Media was officially charged with the following: three counts of second-degree murder, three counts of vehicular homicide – reckless manner, two counts of vehicular assault – reckless manner, one count of hit-and-run fatality accident, and one count of attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle. Those charges took effect on Feb. 12.
Law enforcement also arrested another individual who was inside the car with Aparicio-Media at the time of the crash. Officials identified the suspect as an 18-year-old man. He reportedly had a fully automatic handgun while fleeing from the scene of the November 2024 deadly crash. He is being charged with Large Capacity Magazine Violation and Unlawful Fire-Machine Gun.
Multiple Western Washington law enforcement divisions and the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office are participating in this investigation.
