News: Alleged DUI driver causes crash that injures 9 people in Lynnwood 

LYNNWOOD, WA – An alleged DUI driver was responsible for causing a crash that injured nine people in Lynnwood on Wednesday, Kiro7 reports. 

The incident unfolded at 10 p.m. on SR 524 when one driver tried to overtake a vehicle in front of them and crashed into the side of it. 

The second vehicle then rear-ended a third vehicle. The third vehicle overturned several times before plowing into a power pole. Debris from that collision then struck a fourth vehicle.

Downed power lines also occurred, leaving more than 2,900 people without power. By 6:30 a.m., the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) said crews were on the scene attending to the downed power lines and working to restore power. 

Washington State Patrol said one of the drivers was under the influence of alcohol, and confirmed they arrested that alleged DUI driver. 

All of the occupants involved were between 11 and 25.
