News: Accident shuts down HOV lane on I-5 SB in east Shoreline

KING COUNTY, WA — Emergency crews responded to a crash Friday morning on Interstate 5 near Shoreline’s Meridian Park neighborhood, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The collision occurred on the southbound lanes just south of Exit 176 to Northeast 175th Street. It was first reported by WSDOT at 6:55 a.m.

Authorities have not disclosed the cause of the accident, but the southbound HOV lane was blocked as a result. Motorists were warned of minor delays impacting the area.

Traffic footage taken at the scene suggests two vehicles, a pickup truck and a passenger car, were involved.

Here we have a collision on southbound I-5, just south of Northeast 175th Street (milepost 175) in #Shoreline. Just the HOV lane is blocked right now.

By 8:16 a.m., more than 20 minutes later, crews had cleared the scene from the roadway and all lanes were reported reopened.
