News: Accident partially blocks southbound Rainier Ave S in Atlantic area

SEATTLE, WA – Authorities responded to a collision Thursday night on Rainier Avenue South in Seattle’s Atlantic neighborhood, according to the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT).

The accident happened on the southbound lanes at the ramp to southbound Interstate 90, near Mount Baker Tunnel. It was first recorded by SDOT just after 8:00 p.m.

Officials said the left southbound lane was shut down following the wreck and was not reopened until 8:19 p.m., nearly 20 minutes later, when crews announced the scene clearance.

As of this writing, local agencies have not reported any significant injuries or hospitalizations, and it’s unclear whether anyone is expected to be charged.
