News: Accident closes part of SR-16 WB onramp in central Tacoma

TACOMA, WA — Authorities were called to a wreck Friday afternoon on State Route 16 near China Lake Park in Tacoma, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The collision took place on the westbound lanes of SR-16 at milepost 2.51, near South Orchard Street. It was first recorded by WSDOT at 2:52 p.m.

No details on the circumstances of the accident have been shared, but the entrance ramp from South Orchard Street was partially blocked as a result.

The closure remained in place for at least two hours, suggesting a major crash.

As of this writing, no estimated clearance time has been announced, and no major injuries have been confirmed.
