SEATTLE, WA — Multiple agencies were called to a collision Wednesday evening on Interstate 5 near Seattle’s University District, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The crash occurred on the northbound express lanes on the Ship Canal Bridge just south of Northeast 42nd Street. It was first recorded by WSDOT at 6:45 p.m.
Officials have not said what caused the accident, but all northbound lanes were blocked in the immediate aftermath.
At around 7:00 p.m., the Washington State Patrol and WSDOT’s Incident Response Team (IRT) had responded to the scene. Motorists were advised to find alternate routes around the area.

By 7:12 p.m., three northbound express lanes had reopened to traffic, but no estimated clearance time was reported.
It remains unclear at this time whether anyone was seriously hurt.
